Straw Poll - AO3 Tags

 When writing about friendships on the AO3, in the relationship field do you tend to use A+B, A & B, A/B, something else, or just not tag it as a relationship at all?

Oh, I just tend to tag it with the character names, put friendship or female friendship into the additional tag box, and leave relationship blank. It is entirely possible that I'm doing it wrong, though.

See, I do that most of the time but it occurs to me that I'd like to be able to find friendship-focused fics more easily and I was wondering how many people tag with that in mind...

Like, if I want to find a fic of Janeway and Tuvok being space BFFs, I have to filter for those two tags, and then I'll still get a bunch of stories that just happen to have them both in...

If it's just a background friendship, then I don't actually put anything in the relationship field. If the friendship is an important part of the story (or, you know, the entire focus), though, I put A & B since that's the canonical tag for friendships.

Yeah, I'm trying now to use & for if it's the main focus, but I've been seeing all sorts of variations - I didn't realise & was canonical until I checked...

I use A & B when writing about friendships. Not just on AO3 either, it's been pretty standard for me for years.

Cool - a lot of people seem to but there doesn't seem to be one accepted form like there is for the /!

See, I didn't used to either, but lately I've been trying to find more friendship-focused fics and it occurs to me it would be easier if friendships had something as ubiquitous as / working for them...
