Ay de mi. I don't recognise about 75 per cent of these! Looks like I dropped out of the loop at exactly the right time :-)
Most of what I remember about the early 80s was that everything went to crap, especially the music. There were some delicious films - some of which are still among my lifetime faves ("Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?", or "Write yourself out of this, Joan Wilder...", or for that matter, "It's not like that at all. He's my brother.") - but mostly it was a lost decade, a decade of pointless wallowing and ever-tightening recession and...oh wait, that ws the 90s :P :P :P

Date: 2005-06-16 11:45 pm (UTC)And that second one brings back memories - I was allowed to stay up late to see the end of Romancing the Stone, and it was a huge occasion! Sort of a rite of passage.
I suppose I can afford to look back on the eighties through rose tinted glasses, since it was the decade of my childhood which, although it wasn't idyllic, was pretty good fun sometimes. Plus this means I don't remember much of it in terms of politics etc.
