Busy, Busy...

August has contained many things. Among them a trip to Cornwall (sunny! Scone-ful!), picnics (delicious! Croquet-tastic!), a weekend in Edinburgh (fringe-alicious!) and various other delights. Plus carawj are moving house on Sunday! We're not going far, just up the road, but we'll have lots more storage space, and a little garden!

The summer has been so busy that I'm getting a bit worn out, and so I really want to try and have a quieter September. As part of this, I've decided to make September my month of reading. I haven't read much at all lately - admittedly partly to do with short attention span due to sadness - but I'm getting back into a reading sort of mood and I want to really try to read a lot in September. Anyone is welcome to join me!

Semi-relatedly, on the train back from Edinburgh on Monday (having been inspired by a Neil Gaiman talk at the book festival, and some good chats with Manda) I finished the first draft of my YA fantasy novel. I'm now starting the second draft, wheee. Fun times.

I could not agree more! This summer, and August in particular, has been insane. I am so ready for a little bit (or a lot!) of rest and relaxation. I love the reading plan, and I'm going to join it up with cleaning and organising. (Probably you too, huh? Since you just moved?!)

Exciting! I love book/movie organisation (despite your colour-coding :P) and am hoping for a lot of work in our house too. I just got a huge new Ikea shelf that we're going to use for DVDs in the living room, and we have plans...

Let me explain the colour-coding - most of our DVDs are either copied ones that we keep on reels, or ones without covers that we keep in wallets. Those are organised by category and alphabetically. The colour-coded ones are half a shelf-worth, and as such there aren't really enough to organise by category, and they're only there as a sort of decoration for the TV shelves. So I thought they should be pretty!

I've been busy being sick for most of last year (and, uh, this year), so I never mentioned that I switched to a new LJ (I was xenontetroxide back when I was on your f'llist). I wanted you to know that I still read your LJ, I'm super, super happy for you and Cara, and I love that you dove into femslash - it's also an interest of mine, so it's neat to find someone who not only loves it, but lives it and breathes it (never mind that I'm a lesbian - I'm marrying a man, and it's complicated to explain).

I've kept you on my f'list since I moved, but never explained I'd moved. I'd love to be back on your f'list, but only if you want to. I like you and reading you regardless, so I'll keep you. :)
