Rec Me!

I'm reading a lot more fic than usual lately - partly because I'm working from home so I have more time around the house, partly because all the new year exchanges got me in the mood, and partly because my attention span right now is not great, and sometimes a whole book seems a bit daunting.

So, people, rec me some good fic! Along these lines:

* Trek! Lots of Trek! Especially DS9 and TNG. Especially about the ladies.
* Does anyone know of any good Keiko fic? I can hardly find any where she comes off well and isn't just trying to break up Julian and Miles.
* Or anything at all involving Pulaski and not written by myself or carawj?
* Or Harry Potter, if it's about McGonagall, or any of the other older ladies
* Doctor Who femslash! Obscure pairings! Mel!
* I'm always in the mood for gen and femslash - but I'll take anything if it's interesting.
* Nothing too long - from drabble-length to max 10,000 words? Like I said, attention span.
* If anyone knows of any fic AT ALL for any of these things, point the way - The Tin Princess, Jam and Jerusalem, the Drina books, Moondreamers.

There's some good one-shots over in close_contrasts, and I believe I've come across a number of short McG-centric fics on FFN. One I remember enjoying very much was Neville and Minerva during DH. That spawned my desire for more Neville-Minerva, but I had only limited luck in finding fics.

And is there fic for Drina?!!! Can't help there, but know of plenty of Chalet School stuff if that floats your boat.

I've already sent you tetleythesecond's way, but I'm gonna do it again. If you haven't gotten to "Witch Night" yet, lemme tell ya – worth every single one of its 25,000+ words. Overcome the attention span thing. I have never read fic that long, before or since, but I promise that when I finished "Witch Night," I powerfully wished it longer. Her Flitwick gen story is likewise beautiful (and devastating: watch out; I cried). And "Thermodynamics of the Moka Pot" is... YOW. Who wants anything better than a McGonagall/Hooch/Bones threesome? I mean, COME ON.

LOVED a lot of what's at hoggywartyxmas, but especially Blindness and Stars (http://community.livejournal.com/hoggywartyxmas/8220.html) (clever, zappy, political Amelia Bones/Rita Skeeter) and Ex Libris (http://community.livejournal.com/hoggywartyxmas/6636.html) (Gen – Irma Pince in year 7, with fantastic cameo from Discworld).

Seriously, discovering the cabal of mature women writing mature-women femslash in the HP fandom is one of the best things that's ever happened to me. OH: and Wilhelmina, a Love Story (http://lash-larue.livejournal.com/146730.html) for fabulous, sensitive gen Willa and Minerva backstory (and why Willa smokes a pipe).

Trekwise, I doubt I could uncover anything you haven't, especially DS9wise – but I discovered accidentally the other day Much a-Q About Nothing (), which is a silly, slapsticky J/7 & Picard/Q adventure. A little bit groan-worthy at times, but on the whole entertaining.

Enjoying making my way through Liz Griffin's (http://janewayfic.angelfire.com/) huge archive of Janeway/Torres stories – pretty straightforward, but compelling and often wicked hot. ("Emergent Properties" especially.)

... May think of more. Wheeeee, fic.
