So,
carawj,
silly_cleo,
id_doomer and I went to London Zoo today!
It was pretty fun, we saw penguins, and reptiley things, and okapis, and a little red panda thing, and awesome gorillas, and we took a picnic, because zoos and picnics go together, and it was generally lovely and nice!
One of the cool things was that they had lots of info and interactive exhibits and stuff about the conservation work they're doing and how they're improving quality of life for the animals. They even had a voting booth thing where you paid a pound to vote for what kind of project they should do next to support gorilla populations, and they'd put the money towards it, and then you got a badge!
carawj and I both had a go, but before we went there were a couple of kids there with their mum, and the little girl saw it and wanted to give a pound to the gorillas, and her mum just said no, because she should save her money for the gift shop.
?!?!
I mean, yes, a portion of the profits from the gift shop goes to charity anyway, but when your small child wants to give their own money to help a good cause, should you really be encouraging them not to bother?
Eh, whatever. The penguins were cute!
Tomorrow is stuff with
carawj's family, and then on Monday we're going to karaoke!
