The Day of not-Classic Trek - June 20th
Jun. 7th, 2010 11:13 amJust under two weeks remaining until the Day of not-Classic Trek!
What is the Day of not-Classic Trek?
It's a day honouring the Star Trek series of the 80s, 90s and 00s, ie The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise. It was inspired by the awesome Day of Classic in Doctor Who fandom, hence the name.
What with the release of Star Trek XI recently, everyone's been getting really excited about AOS and TOS, and while that's awesome, it's also nice to have an occasion to celebrate the other incarnations of our show that may not have been getting quite so much attention recently.
What's the aim?
The aim is for the edition of the Star Trek fandom newsletter,
trek_news, on Sunday June 20th to be full of exciting things relating to all the incarnations of Star Trek, but especially stuff for TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT.
What should I post?
Whatever you like, so long as it's related to TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT! You can post fic, or graphics, or a vid, or discussion, or meta, or poetry, or art. It could be a picspam, a rec, an essay, a mood theme, a friending meme, a question or an idea. It could be a novel-length masterpiece, or a sketch that took you five minutes.
When should I post it?
Anytime from after the Saturday 19th edition of
trek_news goes up, until the Sunday 20th edition goes up, which should be late evening, MST. That's early on Monday morning for folks in the UK, and late Monday afternoon for people in Oz. I will also make a post on the day to fire the metaphorical starter pistol.
Where should I post?
Wherever you would normally post it. If it's in a Star Trek community where
trek_news will pick it up, great! If you're posting it to your journal, or somewhere else, don't forget to leave a comment with a link on Saturday's edition of
trek_news, with the Subject Line Link for Trek_News so that they know you've posted.
It might also be useful to take a look at the
trek_news Posting Guidelines and FAQ, to make it as easy as possible for the editors to find your post and put it in the right category.
I have another question not covered here!
Ask it in the comments and I'll get back to you ASAP.
Anything else?
Tell your friends! The more people do this, the more exciting it will be, so spread the word if you can. And have a good time!
