Nicest of all, my German teacher from school sent me a letter! Yay!! I know it seems a silly thing to be excited about, but I'm really glad she wrote. I wrote her a little note a couple of weeks ago and I'm so glad she replied!
Also today I had my Student Community Action induction, so I can go into the SCA office tomorrow and put my name down for a volunteer project. It should only be a few hours a week, and I've enjoyed volunteering before so hopefully should be good. I've done maths tutoring and reading help before, and I still want to work with kids, but I have my eye on a project for young people in care who have nobody to visit them, no family or whatever. Basically I would be assigned to one child and just visit them on a regular basis and hang out.
Ooooh, stop here if you are squeamish. Because I have the huuuuggggest blisters on my heels. They look like my feet have suffered radiation poisoning. Some of them are gooky. And it's all my fault for wearing new shoes which are a size to small, without getting them stretched or even attempting to break them in for any longer than half an hour of mooching around the flat. So I have suffered today, not to mention limping in a very peculiar fashion, but at least I have learned a lesson.
But I'm not bearing a grudge against the shoes. I will get them stretched - or buy some Clarks shoe-stretching spray, as Amy in my Russian class suggests - and then I will be able to wear them to Poppy's party.
