Sep. 23rd, 2004 10:58 pmWoah! Several mad days!
I believe the last time I posted was after we went for the Indian - so much has happened since then!
Thursday and Friday were mostly occupied with finishing my packing, going to Dad's and being excited.
It was pretty strange to be leaving Mum and Wil on Friday night, knowing I wasn't going to see them again until Christmas. It still hasn't quite sunk in how long I'm going to be away - I feel as if I'll be going back on Saturday, like I'm on holiday.
On the other hand, my uni room already feels like my own. I've got my collage of pictures of all my friends, my good luck card from the three musketeers, my MASH and Marina Sirtis autographs, my Johnny Depp poster and my maps, plus all my little bits and pieces. Plus it is already a mess, which makes it doubly feel like mine!
Saturday was quite strange - it took hours to get to nottingham, then even more hours to queue up for my room key. I eventually got it and it turns out my room is on the third floor, so lots of carrying boxes of my stuff up stairs. It looked a bit dingy, and the carpet needed vaccuming so badly I almost hesitated to walk on it, and I'm not exactly a neat freak. But after a going over with the hoover and a session putting all my posters up and books on the shelves it statred to look not too bad. Saturday evening Laura and I went for a drink, then for a nosey in one another's flats, and I met some of her flatmates.
My flatmates all seem really nice actually. I know I've known them less than a week, but Claire and I in particular have hit it off, and we're planning to start the Rocky Horror Society next year!
Sunday was mostly given over to finishing sorting things out, looking around the place, and an introductory talk from the Students' Union.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all very busy, what with Freshers' Fayre, registering, signing up for classes, meeting my personal tutor etc. I have joined the Latin and Ballroom Society, the Dance Society, the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Society and next week I'm going to the Taster Evening for the Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
Claire and I went to a Freshers' Party last night in a club that had two different levels. Not realising this, we spent and agonising two hours up on the hard-core dance music floor, before discovering the non-stop cheese party downstairs.
Tonight we rented Muppets Treasure Island, for Tim Curry value, and Rachel watched it with us too. Tomorrow we're going on an exciting field trip to the launderette!
