Holidays are coming, holidays are coming...

I saw the Christmas Coca Cola ad on youtube earlier, so it must be time for one of these...



What I would like to find under the tree this year:

1) Shiny Doctor Who DVDs
2) Enough enthusiasm to finish my degree course
3) Something new and exciting to read
4) Judi Dench movies
5) Theatre tickets
6) A long, stripy, Fourth Doctor scarf. Or red and white stripy overalls, a la Sarah in The Hand of Fear.
7) A computer that actually works and doesn't weigh a ton
8) David Tennant, wrapped up in a big bow
9) A book deal
10) World peace :P

I have been very good all year.

~sulks~ What I'd like to find this year is a tree. Never mind the under-its :P

For a number of reasons, Himself refuses to do holidays. Even a little. He says that not doing holidays is the ONLY part of his Jehovah's Witness upbringing that he still agrees with! So for five years I've had no tree, no wreath, not even a sprig of holly to mark the season (not that it's the right season down here anyway, but still...). Last year he did agree to having decorations if - as you may remember - they consisted of a life-sized mock-up of the Hogfather on the roof (the deal being that if I'd make it, he'd put it up), but it never happened and is even less likely to happen this year.

For the past couple of years, we've been honorary members of cemsleuth's family on the 25th, which has meant an inedible cardboard Anglo-Aussie Christmas dinner (D takes to heart the old Victoria Wood line, "It's September - better put the sprouts on for Christmas") but lots of very sweet instant-family stuff, but this year her family is a bit scattered so that may not happen. I may have to go back to Plan B, which consists of driving out along the coast, looking at ghost gums and marsupials in national forests, and eating Chinese takeaway on the beach in Lorne :P

So by all means, please do have a good traditional Chrissie for me!

I'd love to find the official DVD sets of BG seasons 1 and 2 wrapped in a corner, but the only way that's going to happen is if I magically come across the price of 'em and make the purchases myself, heh. OTOH I've finished paying off the complete Buffy set for Himself's birthday, so it's not all bad :D
