Heheh I can say it here - there are (and now are fewer) some entities on my LJ list who got there through RL friend-of-a-friend social pressure (or through misunderstandings as to the closeness of that FOAF relationship) whose posts never enrich my life in the slightest. I decided to remove them from my page, and wanted to let them figure it out but couldn't see any justification to take the route of telling them so privately. Hence the publicly readable but comments-blocked notification :-)
Remember, I came to LJ unwillingly, dragged in by another RL friend who wanted me to be able to read her locked holiday posts. On the whole, I'm happy to be here, but there's way too much white noise on the interweb!
