It's a nice day to start again...

Well, went to Macclesfield for
smirnoff_ryuu's partay, which was lovely, and I'll tell you all about it later. But for now I wanted to post about something I saw on the way back home.
On the rail replacement bus from Wilmslow to Stockport, I went past a library. There was a big, colourful sign outside. It said:
LIBRARY!
Games!
DVDs!
Videos!
Internet!
CDs!
I mean... are we not forgetting something? In the library? Something else you might expect to find there? Made of paper and glue? Has those little black shapes in it that make words when you put them all together? Am I the only one who remembers these things?
I mean, I love movies. I have so many DVDs that it's time I bought a new DVD rack. But... libraries are for books! Come on, people! Has it really got so bad that they have to lure people into the library by pretending that there aren't any? "Oh, come to our fabulous multimedia palace, it has everything you could possibly imagine, it's fabulous, it's amazing, use the internet, find your favourite computer game, have a book, borrow a DVD! Oh, the wonderful world of multimedia and books!"
Perhaps it's that reading just isn't cool any more. Maybe people are ashamed to be seen reading because there are so many more interesting things to do.
Or maybe they haven't stopped reading at all, but they don't use the library because they're just endlessly passing back and forth increasingly dog-eared copies of The Da Vinci Code.
