Ah...
The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas is the sweetest film ever! I mean, it has dancing, and singing, and Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise, and pretty dresses and it's just adorable!
Right, now I need to get up and get going so that I can get everything ready for the Archers sleepover this evening.
But I can't be bothered...
Maybe I'll just stay here a while longer...

Ooh, in other news, I read through my screenplay properly for the first time since I did the first draft. Having read the books that [livejournal.com profile] cadiliniel and [livejournal.com profile] sashavangenius gave me, I found good news and bad (well, not really) news...
The good news is that a lot of the stuff in those books was common sense, and I've managed to avoid pretty much all of the major mistakes, and I've made a good start - I have a sensible story structure, interesting characters, good dialogue and the right formatting and stuff.
On the other hand, it still needs a lot of work, but I feel like I know what I need to do with it to get it as good as it can be - there are a couple of characters that need more development, I need to make the obstacles more difficult to overcome, I need to tweak the middle a bit, and there needs to be a stronger link between the two elements of the plot.
So it's going to be a while before it's ready to go out into the world, but I at least have a plan of action. If only I didn't also have exams...

And you shall!
I've emailed the people about that program I'm using, so I should shortly be able to show people what I've got.

~scratches head~ Um, why? Just wondering, since I've always found him unbearable. Peter OTOH is responsible for so much wonderfulness...

You know I really have no idea why I like him. I just REALLY do. I love them all actually...

Fair enough! Interestingly, though I particularly detested his "Harlan" character in SG-1 the first time he appeared (not a bad character IMO, but I think H would've been far better defined by a far less embarrassingly-middle-aged-OTT performance), last night we watched the follow-on ep in which he "loses track" of the android SG-1, and he was far more bearable :-)

you are already ahead of 90% of the writers out there... I have read so many but I bet I can count on one hand (and I don't even have to take my glove off to do it) the books that offered a unique perspective. Once you have the basics down most of the books are just people's interpretation of the same basics. A good reference book to keep at your side is David Trottier's Screenwriter's Bible. Pop into B&N or Borders or your local bookstore and have a peek

Glad that you've managed to avoid the major potholes, it would be a bit disheartening to have to unpick it now it's written. Hope you'll be showing it off later :) I'm writing up the chapters I have of Handmaid, so I might have something to show as well!
