So, I finished the first draft of my screenplay. 10,200 words in three days. Definitely a personal best.
Having said that, it's VERY first-drafty. I basically banged through it as quick as I could to get all the scenes in the right places and the plot all down. I want to go through it scene by scene now and tidy it all up. Oh, and maybe 10% of those words are things like "CUT TO:" and "INT. DRESSING ROOM. DAY", so it isn't quite as impressive as it sounds. Still not half bad though.
According to the screenwriting software, it'll run about an hour, but I'd say more like an hour and a half, because the bits with no dialogue mostly only take up a line or so on paper, whereas they could be worth several minutes onscreen.
I'm a bit cross with the people who make the software, because I can't send it to anyone until I buy the program, which I would do, but they can't take my card, and they haven't emailed me back yet about alternative methods of payment. So I'm stuck until they do, really. I can't even c/p scenes into word.
I can, however, c/p the various fun reports and stuff that you can get. So if anyone is interested...

Other than that, haven't really done much all day. Oh, except I went to Iceland to buy juice. Feeling a bit melancholy and cross about various things. Haven't finished my homework. I'm cutting it rather fine if I expect to finish it, too.

Woman, I sooooo want to read this!

BTW you've just given me another measure of how long I've been living in a strange foreign country with (mostly) different shops. I read Oh, except I went to Iceland to buy juice. and my very first thought was "WTF? She flew to smegging ICELAND just for some juice?!" :D

You sooo shall get to as soon as I sort out my issues with exporting and sending it!

LOL, yes. Plain old British juice isn't good enough for me. I have to have genuine Icelandic juice, made from apples grown in sight of the fjords, pressed by old men from Keflavik, and matured in a geyser for three months. It's expensive, but then, you have to pay a bit more for something special.

Sounds like a Plan! And if I can be of service re any details about the actual making of music or about band gear, etc., am happy to help.

When you sell your screenplay, you could afford the really special juice - pressed by Bjork herself :P

Well, that's the whole reason I'm doing it!

Thank you for that kind offer! If I come across anything I need help with I'll let you know!

BTW, the film includes scenes of an 18th century viol player learning the drums...

Good stuff all round!

Now the drumming thing is really fascinating. Only yesterday I was composing one of my usually-stays-in-my-head-forever rants about club "music" - about how it's for the terminally rhythm-impaired, and about how syncopated percussion rhythms are the real deal, and started musing about how drumming in some form, whether military, orchestral or tribal-folk-music-y, has been around since long, long before keyboards and guitars and basses...

...and now I shall shut up and go back to doing another hour of Chrons transcriptions before I have to bath and change and go to rehearsal. Thank you for inspiring me!

It's an interesting subject...

And, hooray, I inspired someone!
Have fun with your transcriptions and bath and rehearsal!

Thankee! I'm making progress. Slow progress, but progress. If I do this at least two or three days a week, I'll soon catch up to the less recent past, if you know what I mean :D
