Exciting weekend!
[livejournal.com profile] poppy4077 arrived on Friday evening and brought me late Christmas presents of DVD and pretty stuff, yay! We went out to Republic for dinner with Rosie and Sarah, and it was really nice. I go past it all the time but I've never been in before - the food was lovely, the waiter was a bit inept though.
Of course, when we got back to mine, we had to have the traditional watching of M*A*S*H which always bookends our weekends together.
And, ahem, when we got up on Saturday morning we watched six or seven episodes, too...
Saturday afternoon we went ice skating, but we gave up pretty soon because it was busy and scary and our ankles hurt. So it was back to Sarah's for a bit, then back to mine for a bit, then out to the Cornerhouse to see A Cock And Bull Story!

Well, I liked it. Some bits were strange, most of it was funny, and some of it was quite sweet. Lots of familiar faces, of course, and it was quite fun spotting people. Of course the most exciting one was Gillian Anderson - eeeee!! I've never seen her on the big screen before and it was such a treat! She was fantastic, she's such a great comedy actress - both her American accent as herself and her British accent as Widow Wadman were hilariously overdone, and she was just cute and funny and amazing, even if she was only in three short scenes. I loved Shirley Henderson too, but then I always do. She's just gorgeous. I liked Steve Coogan more than I expected too, and I thought Rob Brydon looked rather dashing. Stephen Fry was in it, yay!! And Dylan Moran! Hooray! Shall have to dig out the Black Books DVDs again for him...
I had somehow expected the actual Tristram Shandy scenes to make up a larger portion of the film, but the rest was very interesting too. There wasn't much plot, but it wasn't completely random, there were several small character arcs that were resolved by the end.
So all in all, it was a little bit of a strange cinematic experience, but I think I'd watch it again.

This morning was mostly more M*A*S*H watching and chatting about fic before we headed to the station. We watched so much M*A*S*H that I feel quite guilty now for neglecting our site so badly, and I want to try and work on it a bit this week.
Tomorrow I have to go on campus to collect some work, and then go for my two hours of good karma at the library homework club, but other than that the day is mine! Oohh...
