Woah, I can't believe I haven't updated this thing since July.
A lot has happened since then, and maybe I'll blog about that another time.
I'm back in Wales right now, for the first time since June. When I phoned my mum the other day, she told me that she has been diagnosed with cancer. They're still doing tests but it looks very serious.
So.
Seems a silly time to start posting on LJ again, but there we go.
I think my life is going to get weird now. I want to try, as much as possible, to keep my normal life in London going. I'm looking into transport costs for travelling up and down. It looks like I may be spending a lot of time here running my mum's business while she's in hospital, but I still want to get back when I can. It's funny how I've only lived in London for four months, but it still feels more like home than here right now. I don't want to just end up stuck here forever because some bad shit happened. But obviously I want to spend time with my mum while I can.
Also, I haven't been following my flist at all this summer, since I've had no home internet for quite a while. I'm online again now, so if you've been doing anything exciting, or even if you haven't, mention it now, I'm interested!

Date: 2008-09-27 01:37 am (UTC)Welcome back!
I'm sorry to hear about your mum. Let me know if you want to talk about it. Hopefully it won't be as serious as they think it is. *crosses fingers*
I'm not teaching anymore at the moment. I'm back working retail, and hopefully will be going back to school in January. Other than that I'm not doing much.

Date: 2008-09-30 02:27 am (UTC)Man, so much has gone on for me this summer. I'm hoping to do a full LJ update soon, but basically I moved out on my own for the first time, got a cool apartment ten minutes from the campus I'm doing my graduate work at, and working on a Masters in Wildlife Ecology. It's only half an hour from home, so I still see my family on the weekend, but my brother moved to the other end of the state, so I'll only see him on holidays, which is really weird since we were inseparable growing up. But grad school rocks, I like my new little town, and things are generally going really well. Oh, and I went to a real sci-fi convention in Dallas this summer (even though it got cancelled halfway through). John Billingsley and his wife, Bonita Friedericy, rocketh mightily. That's another thing I have to take the time to post about on my LJ.
I hope your summer went well, despite the unfortunate news from your mom. I'd love to hear all about it!
((((Llin))))!!! Great to see you online again! Missed you!

Ooh, you must be so excited to be in your own place! And I'm sure you'll still get plenty of chances to see your brother!
Yeah, it's great to be back online, I've felt so cut off all summer! Hooray!

Date: 2008-10-05 11:50 pm (UTC)It's definitely exciting having my own place and kind of starting a new life on my own up here. And we've already planned for my brother to come down for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that's nice.
Glad you're not cut off anymore! It's great to be back in touch! I've missed chatting with you!
