(no subject)
Jul. 2nd, 2007 02:47 pmThe big giant Australia post is coming soon, I promise. But in the meantime:
I have made a pact with myself to give up shopping.
Don’t be alarmed. Yes, I am Llin, I haven’t been replaced by a replicant. It’s just that, if I want to go back to Russia after graduation, which I do, and if I want to visit the States sometime soon, which I do, then I need some money to do it with, and this seems the easiest way to save.
Not to mention the fact that my shopping habit is getting out of control. I have too much stuff to fit in my room. And more clothes than I can wear.
And so I’ve resolved not to shop until after Christmas, and if that doesn’t prove too awful, maybe I’ll carry on not shopping.
Here are my rules:
1) The shopping ban will last from July 2nd, 2007, until December 26th, 2007
2) I will not bitch and moan constantly about how I can’t shop. This is a self-imposed ban and I have only myself to blame.
3) The ban only applies to items purchased in shops (including online shops). I can spend what I like on going for drinks, meals out, theatre tickets, etc. This is a ban on shopping, not a ban on fun.
4) In order to have some quality of life and to not go completely insane, I am allowing myself the following purchases as exceptions:
• Food and drink. Because duh.
• Toiletries
• Magazines. Because I always need something to read on the train, and there ain’t no way I’m going without my DWM.
• Gifts for other people. Christmas would be pretty awkward otherwise.
• Sarah Jane merchandise. I know it’s a cop-out, but I’m getting that stuff the minute it comes out and I may as well admit it up front.
5) For special occasions such as conventions and trips to London, I will ask a trusted friend who is present to set me a budget (ie, Archers for conventions, Sasha for London trips) However, making sure that I stick to the budget is nobody’s responsibility but my own.
