Oct. 24th, 2004 07:25 pmWell, it's been a pretty good weekend.
Elen and Dad came up on Friday night, and left this afternoon. Feeling a bit lethargic now and can't be bothered to do anything productive, eg some German grammar or my washing. But it has been a good weekend.
Friday night was good, Els, Claire and I watched The Little Mermaid (aaww!!) and we had a reasonably early night.
Dad was staying at a B&B, so on Saturday morning he picked us up and we went for a walk around the campus, which was a little boring because everything was closed. Went into Nottingham on the bus and had a look around the shops, picked up part 2 of Poppy's present. Less than a week now until I go to Poppy's! Also got the new Lemony Snicket, and it's pretty good. Lunch was at Pizza Hut, then we decided to do the tourist thing and went to The Tales of Robin Hood. Basically this is a Robin Hood exhibition with a ride and a gift shop, actually quite a lot of fun. Saturday night I was thinking about taking Els to the SU bar, but she didn't fancy it that much and anyway it was glemmening outside, so we continued the childhood regression movies theme and watched Neverending Story, then the SG1 ep 'Holiday'. Yay for Jack in Teal'c's body!
This morning Dad picked us up again and we drove over to the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. This has an information centre, a Robin Hood exhibition, two shops, a restaurant and lots of nature trails in the forest itself. We went to look at the Major Oak, which is apparently a very old tree. There was a lot there - a storyteller, a falconer, a couple of little exhibitions and things. It was a very nice way to pass the morning. Then we came back for a bit, had a cup of tea and Dad and Elen went home. Felt quite deflated, but cheered myself up a bit by inviting Claire to watch MASH with me. She has never seen it before, but she liked it. Woohoo! Another one converted to the cult of MASH.
Aaargghh. Must do some work before tomorrow.
