Got up this morning in quite a huffy mood, for several reasons which I won't disclose here. So I decided, no sense wallowing and pitying myself, I'll walk into Beeston and get a birthday card for Patrick and a new mascara.
Big mistake.
The birthday card and mascara turned into: two birthday cards (not both for Patrick, that would be stupid), wrapping paper, a gift bag, two keyrings, three fridge-magnets, the DS9 finale novelisation, two bottles of Radox, a box of CD-RWs, a Dime bar, a pair of shoes (black ballet flats with hot pink stars on them), a Belgian bun, some apple juice, a book of stamps, mascara and powder.
By the time I was done I felt a lot happier, but my bank balance certainly did not.
And then once I got home I went online to order the thing for Poppy's birthday which I can't specify because I'm not sure whether or not she knows I have an lj. But it's so exciting! I wish I was getting it for myself.
Speaking of Poppy, I've been working a lot on our M*A*S*H site recently. Sorted out the new layout today, it looks a bit neater, but still needs some work.
It's also been a day of phoning lots of people. I called Pops to talk about travel arrangements for when I go down for her birthday. I called Hannah for an interesting chat about why I was right to buy another pair of shoes and how she's become even more addicted to M*A*S*H. I called Becky to ask for her address, since I've written her a letter. Called Yvonne to do the same. Was also planning to call Gem, since Han said she was finishing work at six, but I went for Chinese and got distracted. And I was going to call Jess, but by the time I thought of it I think she would have been at work.
I did actually have a massive tidy-up today, so my room looks fairly nice for a change. However, didn't manage to get much done on the academic front, a little bit of Russian vocab revision and listening, but that's it. Must have a serious German Grammar blitz tomorrow.
