Frozen!!!!

cosmic_llin Because I'm too excited to write in paragraphs, some bullet points of the best things about Frozen:
* IT'S ABOUT TWO WOMEN (SISTERS, NO LESS) AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND THEIR PROBLEMS
* THE PROTAGONIST SAVES HERSELF AT THE END WITH THE POWER OF SISTERLY LOVE
* The 'bad' sister isn't actually demonised, her motivations are clear, and she gets a happy ending which involves BEING QUEEN OF A COUNTRY AND NOTHING ABOUT GETTING MARRIED
* seriously she has a coronation and she is IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING
* Plus her story is all about how bad things happen when you try to make your children conceal their true selves, and how freeing it is to be open about who you are, and how important love and support is for people to feel happy, and how sometimes when you've been hurt you hurt people but you can still come back from it
* The romance plotline is secondary, the protagonist gets to romance two different guys without being judged, and by the end of the film she hasn't committed to a relationship, just kissed a guy and been happy about it (and by the way he got consent before kissing her)
* In a song that was sadly cut from the film, the sisters plan to rule the kingdom together when they grow up
* Actually, yeah, the songs. THE SONGS. Especially Let It Go. <3 Also cute songs about reindeer and snowmen
* Acknowledgement that maybe marrying a guy you barely know is not actually a sensible path
* the epic true love's kiss fake-out, I know I sort of mentioned it before, but YES
* Anna is dorky and clumsy, and yes that is kind of the done thing these days but she gets to do it in an unladylike, fun way
* I know people are complaining about Olaf but I thought he was fun and I liked his song
* I also liked Sven the reindeer
* Also when I first heard about this I was annoyed because it's supposedly based on The Snow Queen and it's actually nothing like, but having seen it I feel like, if things hadn't ended happily this could have been a really good Snow Queen origin story.
* Ugh I'm sure I'll think of more but this is the gist
Like, I know there are things Disney could have done to make this even better, in terms of racial diversity etc. There's still a lot that Disney needs to work on, and I respect that for some people that means they enjoy this film less. But for me personally, this is the film my heart wanted, y'know?
