An update!
1) The wedding! It was lovely! A really fun, informal, loving day, full of friends and family and niceness. A few pics here on my Tumblr for anyone curious.
carawj looked beautiful, everyone else looked really cool too (seriously we have some well-dressed friends), my dress was floofy, everyone was nice, there was cake and dancing, and I'm still getting warm fuzzies thinking about it. Plus the three days in the Lake District afterwards were lovely. Couldn't be happier about the whole thing. :)
2) In other real-life news, I'm job hunting again, for really serious this time. I'm pretty happy with most aspects of my life but work-wise I'm going nowhere and I think it's time to do something about it. Mostly looking at editorial stuff, still, although as always I'm toying with the idea of teaching because I love doing it, but put off by all the crap I know comes with it.
3) Yuletide is getting into gear again - I've nominated Tenko, Seraphina, Swallows and Amazons and Moondreamers!
4) I'm pondering a potential vid and I'm looking for ideas - folks, tell me some of your favourite examples of the following in visual media:
* women supporting each other during tough times
* women encouraging each other to be brave
* women being brave in all sorts of ways, with or without help

In terms of (4), the ones I can think of you probably already have. Everything that has ever happened between Guinan and Ro Laren, for example. The scene where Opaka tells Kira not to run from the violence inside her.
Oh! Boomer and Caprica Six in the BSG episode 'Downloaded'. And (augh) Nana Visitor as Emily and Laura Roslin in BSG 'Faith' (warning: v. upsetting about cancer).
Have you seen OITNB? The scene between Red and Nicki in the bathroom... (AUGH).
Wow, I've just seriously upset myself. I will try to think of HAPPIER EXAMPLES. My problem right now is that I'm having trouble telling canon from fiction! (Remember that time Lwaxana Troi and Alynna Nechayev rescued a ship from Romulans? I do.)

3) Swallows and Amazons
:DDDD
4) Buffy! :D For women supporting each other I like: Buffy sharing her strength with Willow to help her heal in "Same Time, Same Place", Faith throwing Buffy the scythe in "Chosen", Buffy comforting Dawn in "Blood Ties", Joyce comforting Buffy in "Innocence", Willow comforting Buffy after Angel breaks up with her in "The Prom", Tara and Willow kissing in "The Body".
...possibly when my brain is less squished I'll be able to think of some non-Buffy examples. ;)

4. Orphan Black could be a good go-to for scenes of women backing up women? Like, Alison teaching Sarah to shoot, Sarah backing Alison up at her party. Mrs S talking about how she protected Sarah.

Most episodes of Gilmore Girls are pretty much the epitome of this request, I think? Judging Amy had a really interesting mother-daughter dynamic at its core as well.
