Shiny!

Lookit, I got podficced! Twice!

http://podfic-project.livejournal.com/11503.html

Both [livejournal.com profile] cantarina1 and [livejournal.com profile] nickelmountain did lovely readings of my fic!

Also, that thing that everyone's been doing, because why not:

Give me a pairing and I will tell you:

1. What they most commonly do during sex
2. Who has prettier hair
3. What they argue about most often
4. Who'd cope best if the other one died
5. The happiest plausible happily-ever-after I can think of for them.

Aw, yay for podfic!

And to really challenge you, because I know you've never thought about this before: Pulaski/Troi.

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've never been podficced before and two come along at once...

Gosh, that's a tricky one... ;)

1) They like to play with dominance and submission, because both of them are very in control in their professional lives, so it's fun to try other things. That's for special occasions, though. Most of their sex is of the thank-goodness-that-day-finally-ended variety.
2) Clearly Deanna. Except for that weird puffball hairstyle she had that time. Kate keeps hers short so that it doesn't get in the way when she's working, and she doesn't care whether it's pretty or not (although Deanna thinks it is). She likes Deanna's hair but she has views about doctors flouncing about with clouds of beautiful hair, making it difficult to keep everything sterile. ;)
3) Whether or not to play pranks on Picard.
4) Deanna has experience being bereaved and she's a psychologist, but she's also a member of the 'I'm fine!' school of dealing with feelings, so although she'd put up a better front of okay-ness, perhaps Kate would actually do a better job of working through it, because she doesn't lie, even to herself. In the end, though, they'd both get to a point where they could look back with fondness on the happy memories without the sad ones intruding too far.
5) After Kate leaves the ship, they keep up a regular correspondence, some of it just chatty, some of it loving, and some of it absolutely filthy. They miss one another but they realise that they want different things, so when they occasionally meet and have incredible sex, neither of them minds that it's a no-strings thing now, and their friendship is the more important part.

Leurve this! Something about Deanna-the-occasional-dom puts a stupidly stupid smile on my face. And the happy ending is just right.

One item to dispute, though: number 3. CLEARLY, they are both on the 'yes, definitely, Captain-pranks, of course, what else would we do?' side of that debate. But perhaps you meant 'which pranks to play on the Captain'? ;)

(Icon represents flouncy-haired doctor not giving a frak what anyone thinks of her flouncy hair. It has its own forcefield. It's perfectly sterile.)

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, I dunno, I think Deanna would kind of like the idea, but because of her special insight into the captain, she knows how sadface he gets if people make him look silly and she doesn't want to br responsible for emo!Picard.

(Look, don't tell me, tell Pulaski! ;p)

[identity profile] sophia-gratia.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true that maybe s2 Deanna does not so much want to upset the Captain – but by s7, she's let her snark flag fly and the Captain has let his sense of humor out of its cage. So I suspect much of abovementioned correspondence, at that point, details possible strategies for Captain-pwning.

(She just doesn't know about the forcefield, that's all.)

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, this is true... and I love that idea!

OMG, that icon... that picture cracks me up every time I see it...

Jadzia/Nerys

(I'll use my flouncy hair on the bridge icon, because hair is safe on the bridge)

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! And flouncy is welcome here. ;)

1) Jadzia loves dressing up and role play, but it's hard to get Nerys to join in properly, although sometimes Jadzia thinks she secretly loves it too and makes a fuss just to make it more challenging. Nerys likes to do it on a proper bed, in luxurious surroundings, slowly and with no chance of interruptions.
2) Nerys, definitely. Although she doesn't believe it, because she thinks long hair is what proper girls have.
3) Anything and everything. Neither of them is afraid to make their opinions known, so they debate from morning until night. Jadzia likes switching sides for fun, but Nerys gets cranky when they do that because she's always so emotionally invested.
4) Both about the same. Jadzia has developed constructive ways of dealing with grief, purely because of multiple lifetimes of experience, and Nerys finds comfort in the Prophets.
5) Certain things did not happen. After the war, they run DS9 and have wacky adventures and are gloriously disdainful together at people who say things like 'but that's impossible!' or 'it'll take at least a week!'

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
awwww. I like 3, I also really like 5. :) 4 has much truth in it.

[identity profile] sophia-gratia.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
♥! I love 3. Poor cranky Nerys; you're so right.

Cybill/Maryann. ;)

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Heehee!

1) Laugh. And talk. And possibly sing. They are the opposite of quiet. And they find sex funny, even when it's good. Which it is, because they both know what they like.
2) What a decision! Um... Cybill. By a hair. ;p
3) How far is too far, when it comes to potentially-illegal hijinks.
4) Cybill would cope better. She'd be a wreck, but Maryann would be a bigger one. Maryann does not have good coping mechanisms. Maryann would do things that weren't sensible. Either way, Ira and Zoe would be the biggest help.
5) When all the kids have flown the nest for good, Maryann starts staying over more to keep Cybill company. Before they know it, they're living together. They go on holidays, have adventures, get each other into trouble and out of it... basically the same as ever, but with added sex.

Mike/Hank :D :D :D

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I'm surprised you even have to ask this - dodgy church-themed roleplay and lots of hair-grabbing.
2. They both tell the other one they do, but secretly think the opposite
3. Who has the prettiest hair. Sometimes it's hard to be modest. Oh, and whether prostitution is moral and whether certain people should pretend to be hookers for the benefit of certain other people.
4. Mike, she has lots of actual friends to help her through, where Hank just has drink.
5. They reconcile their differences and start their own brand of hair products.

As we discussed before, an all too often overlooked pairing: Janeway/Torres. Perhaps this meme will inspire some more writing out of me! Your memes do that! :)

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I hope so! Give me a shout if you ever want a beta!

1. Read poetry and throw heavy objects. ;) Seriously though, Janeway is more enthusiastic about Klingon sex than B'Elanna is, but it gets pretty rough.
2. Janeway. Sorry, B'Elanna, no contest. Even though that little braid on one side was really cute.
3. Engineering theory, and the Prime Directive. The Prime Directive arguments turn into big fights where people have to apologise afterwards, and the engineering arguments turn into late-night trips to Engineering in their pyjamas with coffee, to do experiments.
4. Hmm... tricky one. Neither of them is Ms Super-Coping... I'd say B'Elanna by a hair, because although she'd have a hard time, Janeway would make it about the guilt (even if it wasn't her fault) and carry it around forever.
5. Aargh, this is difficult because I hate to break up B'Elanna and Tom... but say Tom, I don't know, mysteriously disappeared on a mission, and a few years later Janeway and B'Elanna found themselves together on some sort of wacky engineering think tank... they might spend some time catching up, gradually realise their feelings and travel the universe together fixing things. I can see an older, more settled/relaxed B'Elanna being a good match for Janeway.

[identity profile] aerialsky.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
:) These are great answers!

1. I totally agree - Janeway would be well into B'Elanna exploring her Klingon heritage ;) Truly though, Janeway would go a long way to making B'Elanna feel comfortable about her Klingon side for the first time in her life, I think.
2. I was going to cite that braid as a terrible B'Elanna 'do! Haha. It was blink and you miss it.
3. Love this answer! So true! :D
4. Agree.
5. You know, I don't get the B'Elanna/Tom thing at all. I like Tom but.. I just don't see him with B'Elanna. She needs someone more like Janeway who is like her rock. Tom is too flighty (haha, what a pun) and immature I think?
I read an amazing short fic where Janeway and Torres found each other during the Year of Hell as they both battled to keep Voyager going. It was amazing.
I either see them giving in to their feelings at a time that like that: a time of crisis where they work closely together to the edge of their limits and just fall into each other's arms etc etc.
Or after a Prime Directive argument!
Or just after B'Elanna calms down a bit, further into their journey home, their love/passion would grow and B'Elanna would act I think... and Janeway couldn't resist! :) I actually think their love would somehow stem from their love of Voyager! Is that mad??

Hee. Since nobody's asked you yet: River Song and Eleven?

[identity profile] cosmic-llin.livejournal.com 2011-08-09 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahhh, lost track of this in the Great LJ Outage...

1. River knows some... special settings on the sonic screwdriver.
2. River, without a doubt. The Doctor is a bit envious and quite wants hair like that next time.
3. How much messing about with time is allowable.
4. Well, the Doctor is used to that sort of thing but it's not as though he has the healthiest coping strategies... maybe River.
5. An eternity of chasing one another around time and space, having laughs.
