I suddenly have all this fast internet access and I don't quite remember what I used to do with it...
So I've been YouTubing kids' shows I used to love...
Raggy Dolls, anyone? I always identified with Dotty because she was bossy... Also, it makes me laugh now that all of the dolls were in the Reject Bin because they were poorly made in some way, except for Claude, who was just in there because he was French!
Also, Playdays! Does anyone else remember the thrill of seeing which stop it was going to be? The Tent Stop was my favourite, but I hated the Patch Stop.
Astro Farm, too, what a classic!
Count Duckula!!! Need I say more?
Now, Roger and the Rottentrolls has to be one of the most awesome things ever invented. I don't care if it's for kids, I still love it.
I also used to love Moondreamers, Mike and Angelo, The Dreamstone and T-Bag. Clearly I leaned strongly towards SF&F even as a kid...
I know everyone thinks the kids' TV while they were growing up was the best, but I do think that my generation were pretty fortunate. A lot of our stuff was really intelligent and interesting, and not based around the idea of several primary-coloured blobs roaming around very small sets talking nonsense.
Having said that, now they have stuff like The Sarah Jane Adventures, Raven, My Parents Are Aliens and MI High. So it's not all bad.

It's lovely to see you online again BTW. Phoneage and SMS notwithstanding, there's something extra-special about exchanging comments in LJ again :-)
Now to wait for Sarah Jane torrents...lessee, about 22 hours to go at this end!

Did you see SJA yet?

It's great fun! And I've no idea - since I don't indulge in spoilage for most things - if this means M and her dishy da' are leaving the cast, but much as I like them both, I'd be plenty happy with just Luke and Clyde.
Did I mention that your very special pressie has been ordered and should arrive at your father's address in ~4 weeks?

Aside from being such a lovely piece, I think it represents continuity through the generations and the whole idea that we will endure. May it bring you much magical happiness!
